How to avoid fake supplements
The main problem with a counterfeit supplement is not that it "does not work". The main problem is that you do not know what is inside.
Before ordering
At this stage you have the most control.
- Check who the seller is — the platform, a distributor or a third party
- Find a photo of the label where the amounts are readable
- Compare the price across several sources — an unusually low price is a question
- See whether the manufacturer and importer are stated
On opening the parcel
These five minutes are decisive — returning it afterwards is harder.
- Is the batch number the same on the box and the bottle?
- Is the expiry printed or stuck on as a sticker?
- Is the foil membrane intact?
- Is the print clear and the typeface even?
- Does the label carry amounts and the manufacturer’s address?
The contents
Capsules should be uniform in colour, size and shape. A sharp chemical smell, broken capsules or a large amount of loose powder at the bottom of the bottle are all questions.
In a tube the texture should be uniform, with no separated liquid or grains.
After the first dose
Any new product deserves attention in the first days. A rash, itching, difficulty breathing or facial swelling are signs of an allergic reaction and require immediate medical help.
What to do if you have doubts
Do not use the product. Keep the packaging and the receipt. Contact the seller in writing. If the product caused a health problem, see a doctor and show them the packaging.
Frequently asked questions
Can I check the composition myself?
A laboratory analysis is expensive and hard to access for a private person. The practical route is the list of checks on this page.
What should I do if a product caused a reaction?
Stop taking it and see a doctor. Show them the packaging — that helps the doctor assess the ingredients.
